As young adult’s we have all struggled with different hardships and a lot of us connect through words, so here is a list of poetry books for young adults. All very different but at the same time very similar. Heartbreak, lost loved ones, anxiousness for the future, confusion, and trying to understand day to day life and our purpose. I feel like these books below will touch some part of your soul, if you are going through something now or you have before. Take some time to really let yourself feel and enjoy these works of art.
Milk and Honey & The Sun and Her Flowers
Milk and Honey & The Sun and Her Flowers This book set is a beautiful illustrated poetry collection written by the award winning poet Rupi Kaur. She rips open her soul in these transparent books about her struggles with life, love and everything else. Bitter-sweet and beautifully written.
You’ll Come Back To Yourself
You’ll Come Back to Yourself Written by Michaela Angemeer. You will flow through depression, lost love, learning to choose yourself, and self journey in this poetry book.
Whiskey Words and a Shovel
Whiskey Words and a Shovel This is another book set. This one is written by R.H Sin who has written at least 9 books at this time. This book set has 3 books. You can follow along his journey through sadness as he searches where his peace has gone. Any of his books are good so I suggest any and all of them.
Changing the Tides
Changing the Tides This book written by Shelby Leigh is a beautiful book about anxiety, insecurity, embracing change and empowerment. Its a light written book and easily understood.
Pillow Thoughts
Pillow Thoughts Written by Courtney Peppernell has 4 books in the Pillow thought collection. Very raw written on the struggle of life and heartbreak from hurting to healing.
Preheat oven for 350. In a baking dish safe for ovens, add enough cherry tomatoes to fill the bottom of dish leaving enough room to put the feta block in the center. Add olive oil, garlic and seasoning and mix with tomatoes before adding the block of feta to the middle.
Add oil and seasoning on top of block of feta but keep the block intact. Put in oven for 30 mins or until tomatoes have burst. Cook pasta until the pasta is al dente.
When everything is done, mix the tomatoes and feta into a creamy goodness. Add your pasta and fresh basil, serve and enjoy your freshly baked feta pasta with your family!
Why I made this
I am a huge pasta fan! And could possibly eat pasta every day if that was a healthy option. I saw this on TikTok multiple times and saw so many people do it with various personal touches. So my personal touch was the Badia seasoning and Wild Wonder tomatoes. I knew I had to try it with my mama, so when I went back home to visit my parents I was excited to try it! And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. We will be making this again.
Alternative add ons
For a family who enjoys meat in their dishes, I would suggest to cook seasoned chicken to add in when you add the basil. I think it brings a lot more flavor to an already flavorful dish!
We also used Wild Wonders tomatoes which has a medley of different types of tomatoes with a variety of flavors!
What is your favorite pasta dish? Stay safe stay hydrated! Until next time friends -Dass
This was like any other Wild West town, with prospectors, trappers, tradesmen and cattlemen. Within these deep canyon walls was the perfect spot for outlaws such as Butch Cassidy and his gang to hide out. Permanent settlers being the Mormon pioneers didn’t settle down until the 1870’s. And directors like John Ford and Andrew Stanton along with other directors have made Hollywood movies here such as Rio Grande, John Carter, Star Trek, Comancheros, The Lone Ranger, and even MacGyver!
Such a small town with so much history and excitement!
A little Back Story To My Trip
Have you ever had a spontaneous trip play out more perfect than one you would have ever tried to plan? Well here is a quick post on why you should definitely be more spontaneous!
I was visiting my friends who lived bout 2 hours from my home when they came up with this impromptu idea to take a quick road trip to Moab Utah! We made the reservation and went to the store to grab some essential snacks and goodies before heading out the following morning for our 3 hour trip to Moab.
I personally had already been to the Arches and Canyonlands but I had never gone into the small inspiring town of Moab. So this was technically new territory for me and I was excited!
Colorado River, Moab Utah
Moab Utah
Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point to the South-West and the Arches to the North, this small tourist town is in the perfect spot for all sorts of outdoor activities such as 4Wheeling, stargazing, hiking, fishing, golfing, skydiving, mountain biking, photography and rock climbing, thats only to name a few! I personally plan on trying BASE jumping from here one day!
Get out and explore!
I do suggest you have a truck or jeep! Because some of the roads are pretty sketchy and not built for normal low riding cars.
I know you can rent all sort of vehicles or ATV’s. If you have the money and time to do so! But if you’re like us, not much money or time we had to make things work with what we had! Nevertheless we had an amazing time exploring on our own. There are so many places to pull off and get out to scout or stand in utter awe at the beauty.
If you are coming from Colorado I would recommend for you to drive the scenic route on 128! Its beautiful driving along the Colorado River almost the whole time. Lots of pull offs and places to explore.

Places To Eat
If you are looking for a breakfast place try Jailhouse cafe! Its a quant little cafe but good food! And make sure to get an extra plate of bacon because its so tasty! To the best of knowledge, they don’t have a website but here’s their menu.
If you are looking for a good lunch or dinner spot please take the opportunity to eat at Moab Brewery! They have so many things to pick from but their burgers were amazing and so big! The calamari and onion rings appetizers were both to die for as well. Also all the kids meals are $4.99. Menu Here. They make their own brews that you can buy a case of the different flavors and they also have a gift shop inside as well.
Places To Stay
We stayed at the KOA which had a really nice pool and a hot tub, both were so relaxing after a long day exploring. The cabins were clean and so cute! Close to town and easy to find.
If you are not wanting to rough it and stay in a more comfortable and elegant place i’d suggest SpringHill suites by Marriott Moab. It has an amazing outdoor pool, gym and free breakfast!
Be sure to check out the little shops through out town, they have lots of unique items for sell. Moab Rock Shop is a great place if you or your kids collect rocks! Or Moab Made is such a neat store and you can enjoy their online shop as well! Kokopelli Gallery if you are looking for beautiful well made jewelry. You can park on the street or if you head west on Center Street, you can turn right at Sew Moab into a free parking lot.
HIDDEN GEM
Matrimony Spring
There is this little cove just off the road with a spout with flowing fresh ice cold spring water! Its close to Lions park on Route 128, just east of its southern intersection with Route 191. Its a quick pull off and a fun thing to do. And the water tastes great! Drink at your own risk but I’ve not heard of anyone getting sick from it. There is usually a line of vehicles and people waiting to fill their water bottles, so its hard to miss!
I recently received LEGO set as a gift and I think its going to be one of my new favorite hobbies and collectible items! I think its healthy even as adults to build LEGO’s to keep our fingers nimble and our minds crisp. My first LEGO architecture set was this Paris one.
My nephews (10yrs & 8yrs) were excited when I asked them to help me build a couple buildings with me. They could understand the directions pretty well for their age. The Eiffel Tower is probably the most complex part of this set. It took me around 20 mins to build that section. I couldn’t tell you how long it took to build the whole set because I did it through out a few days and sometimes with young helpers.
What I find really neat is that the manual book has information and history of each building. The knowledge concept of these kinds of sets are important in my opinion! This set contains 649 pieces.
This one does go up in age at 16+ probably because of all the tiny pieces. But this could still be a fun thing to do with your kids, gives you time to practice patience! This set contains 547 pieces.
This and the previous set are part of the Skyline Series as well as the Paris one I built. They are small enough you could keep them in your office or on a shelf in your kids room if you’d like. This set contains 598 pieces.
This one is part of the Landmark Series which is a huge series of multiple major landmarks from all over the world! If you know someone who enjoys traveling this might be something to keep in mind. This set contains 346 pieces.
Okay but you can’t tell me that you wouldn’t want this sitting on your desk or shelf for show! Its simple and unique at the same time. Did I mention that building these are genuinely relaxing? Because it is. This set contains 551 pieces.
This is personally one that I will strive to get! But since the Trevi Fountain is a place I have always dreamed to see in person, I think I will wait until after I visit! This set contains 731 pieces.
Will you collect these before or after you’ve visited the locations? Also where is one place you would love to see LEGO come out with a set for? Let me know in the comments!
The Arches National Park is Just outside of Moab, Utah, which is a perfect little town to stay in if you are going to Dead Horse Point,Canyonlands, or the Arches.
Arches National Park
The Arches National Park
Arches National park gets its well deserved named from having 2,000 documented arches! Founded in 1929 as a National Monument thanks to President Hoover and later changed to a National Park thanks to President Nixon in 1971!
The most well known arch is Delicate Arch. The longest arch is Landscape Arch, 306 feet long! And the tallest arch is Double Arch, 112 feet tall!
I’ve been fortunate enough to visit this National Park two separate times! Both times my travel partners and I could only stay for a few hours before heading over to Canyonlands or Dead Horse Point. Single day adventures are not recommended for trying both National Parks and/or the state park. Fully encourage you to take your time to enjoy each significant places for their beauty and wonders!
Quick Information
Pets are not allowed on any hikes. Only at campgrounds, scenic drives, and parking lots. They must always be leashed.
Watch your step! Cryptobiotic soil is an important part to the eco system here in the desert. They are living organisms that help retain water and provide nutrition to nearby plants. They take 50 years to fully grow back.
Yes there are snakes here so keep your eye open when walking by shadowed bushes where they like to cool off.
Speaking of heat it gets HOT here, into the 100ºF. So bring lots of water, hats that provide shade, sunscreen and did I mention water?
Sunsets and sunrises are obvious ideal times for photographers so everyone is probably thinking the same thing as you about getting a good shot of one of the arches, so I would suggest you get there as early as possible to claim a spot!
HIKING
SAND DUNE ARCH
This short hike is not on a rocky trail but like its name suggests, sand. You will walk through natural alleyways with multiple snap worthy stops! This area stays shaded for most of the day so if you are looking for a place to cool down and see some sand between your toes then check it out!
Sand Dune Arch 0.3 miles.
BALANCED ROCK
Short walk of 0.3 miles on a paved walkway and easily accessible for wheelchairs! Here you can see a large rock balancing on a stem like structure that will with time erode and topple over!
PARK AVENUE
Here you will see a beautiful canyon of structures of all different sizes, colors and uniqueness. Several have clever names like The Tower of Babel, The Three Gossips, and The Organ to name a few.
OTHER HIKES
DELICATE ARCH
There are 3 different hikes involving the Delicate Arch
The Lower Delicate Arch view point
This is a 10 min walk or so from the parking lot. Here you can see the Delicate Arch in the distance. If you continue forward you will go to another view point a little bit closer.
The Upper Delicate Arch View Point
The hike is 30 or 40 minutes long. The arch is a lot smaller than I personally expected. I thought it would be bigger or I would be closer to the arch from this spot but I was mistaken unfortunately. But as you can see in the picture below, the people are tiny compared to the arch once you are up close and personal with it!
Now if you’re wanting to hike TO the Delicate Arch you will need to get back on Delicate Arch Road.
Wolfe Ranch Trail Head
This trail is 3 miles long and is considered difficult. Keep in mind this trail has no shade so bring lots of water and stay hydrated! It will take about 3 hours to complete this trail
While you’re here at Wolfe Ranch you can see Ute petroglyphs dating back anywhere between the 1650’s and the 1850’s.
Other Hikes
Skyline Arch 0.4 miles
Double Arch 0.5 miles
The Windows 1 miles
Courthouse Wash Rock Art 1 miles
Lanscape Arch 1.9 miles
Broken Arch Loop 2 miles
Tower Arch 2.6 miles
Double O Arch 4.1 miles
Primitive Trail 7.8 miles
And Fiery Furnace has no trail.
DRIVE N HOP OUT
Driving through the Arches is what the majority of people do if you are not a huge hiker but love breathtaking sights. There are plenty of stops as you drive and I would encourage you to actually stop and get out of your car and feel the sun against your skin and the sandstone under your feet.
Garden of Eden
Here you can see a lot of neat pillars and close to a lot of other stops! Like the Double Arch trail head!
Courthouse Towers
I think this is a great stop to see how massive these structures are!
La Sal Mountains
Here is a total MUST for me! You can view so many structures from all different angles with the beautiful mountains in the background. There are signs that tell you what each formation is named.
Ending thoughts
I must say I really enjoyed the Arches and I do feel like I will have to go back and visit again and spend a full day or two to fully enjoy its beauty.
